Here are the steps to pick up a dropped stitch:

material requested : crochet hook

1.      With right side facing, insert crochet hook into the dropped stitch using the hook tip and take the above horizontal thread.
2.      Pull the hook outwards and pass the thread through the stitch on crochet hook.
3.      Then put the stitch back on left needle to knit it normally.
